Reginald Ponsonby-Smythe...

Reginald Ponsonby-Smythe is one of the human antagonists in Destroy All Humans! 2 and leader of the MI-6, also known as Majestic Command Sixteenth Sector. He is voiced by Anthony Stewart Head, best known for his work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Merlin.


Description and Personality

Ponsonby is modeled after the popular 1960s British spy series The Avengers' John Steed - although many have compared him to both James Bond and Batman villain The Penguin. He wore a completely blue suit that was lined with even darker blue skinny lines and white cuff links at the end of his sleeves, earning him the nickname "Teabag."
In detailed concept art he wears a blue hat with a white circle rounding it to match his suit. Judging by the concept art, Ponsonby may have had an partner who looked similar to Natalya. This mystery woman may have been changed to Natalya's character.
He wears leather brown shoes and carries a black umbrella with a machine gun launcher at its tip.

He's a very polite individual, keeping his cool, even when facing a very impatient Crypto. Sometimes it even seems like he's quite jovial, at least when he has the upper ha hand. Nevertheless, he's also arrogant towards his opponents, as shown when he faced Crypto in battle. He also holds some interest in the arts.
He was in love with Majestic-12 leader Silhouette (fav.me/d60sfc2), and their relationship beyond this is unknown. It seems likely that due to Silhouette's extreme feminist views, she did not reciprocate his affections. It seems that Ponsonby is bisexual as reading his mind shows he's loved a number of men and apparently finds the Queen and Prince Philip to be quite attractive.


Alliance with Crypto

Ponsonby was the leader of MI6 under the Queen of England's authority in Albion during the 60's. Cryptosporidium 138 arrives in Albion, trailing KGB Agent Oranchov when Ponsonby and his men are attempting to learn what the Soviet Union's plans are. After Crypto follows and defeats the spore-infested Agent Oranchov in the underground tunnel system below Hyde Park, Ponsonby arrives and assist's Crypto's escape in an attempt to make him think he is his ally. After escaping the tunnels Ponsonby introduces himself - stating he works for MI6, the foreign-intelligence agency - before explaining the situation to Crypto and leaving to meet up with his men in order to get the tunnel systems back in order and under their control.

Later, Ponsonby asks Crypto to investigate a new Russian modern art exhibit, which has Ponsonby worried as a number of Albion VIPs are in attendance. Upon infiltrating the art gallery, he discovers that the statues unveiled contain the same spores that infected and mutated Agent Oranchov in the underground Tunnel network. Shortly after the statues explode, a woman who saved Crypto from an assassination attempt earlier arrives to help him kill the infected humans. She states her name is Natalya Ivanova and that she is a KGB agent 'gone rogue'. Upon learning that the Soviets are releasing more drums of the spores in Soho and Hyde Park, the pair split up to destroy the spores with Ponsonby instructing Crypto on the whereabouts of the spore-infected humans, congratulating him on his success in defeating them and complimenting Natalya, stating to Crypto "Spitfire, isn't she?"


Betrayal and Death

Calling Crypto back, Ponsonby gets into conversation with him before suddenly throwing a strange purple drug on Crypto, causing him to pass out. Upon waking up, Crypto finds himself locked in a containment facility with none of his weapons working and with Ponsonby interrogating him.
The next morning, Natalya breaks into the facility and helps Crypto escape his cell. Using his psychokinesis and newly acquired 'Mind Flash' ability, Crypto escapes from the tunnel network and finds his commander Pox in Hyde Park. As Pox finishes repairing Crypto's broken weapons, Ponsonby arrives with a group of soldiers and several surface-to-air missile launchers - revealing that M16 is actually Majestic Command, 16th Sector (the same as America's Majestic was Majestic Command, 12th Sector). He tells Crypto Majestic's plans to rid earth of all Aliens and avenge Silhouette, giving him one final chance to surrender.
Upon Pox's instructions to kill Ponsonby, Crypto fights him and his reinforcements in a battle to the death, with Crypto being the victor. With his last dying breath, Ponsonby declares that Majestic is now utterly destroyed and implies that other aliens destroyed every other branch of Majestic other than the Americans.
